What Makes Pool Water Cloudy

What makes pool water dirty Having a pool is one thing. Maintaining it is a completely different beast. There’s a lot of effort needed for pool maintenance which was why my husband wasn’t too excited about having our own Intex easy set pool.

Since we set up our above ground pool though I realized that like many things in life you always need to be on top of things. If you don’t have a saltwater system, then chemical treating, filtering, vacuuming and debris collection should always be on top of your daily list of things to do.

One of the most common problems pool owners encounter is cloudy pool water. There are many reasons why this is so; however, the main reason is early growth stages of algae. This is why it is EXTREMELY important to test the chemical levels of your pool every day.

If testing shows that the chemical level is within normal range, then it’s time to look at other possible reasons for the cloudy pool water. Some of the other contributing factors are:

  • The filter is not working very well. Your pool filter needs regular cleaning too. Do this then leave it on for about 2 days
  • The filter and the pump are not compatible.
  • Pool debris has not been properly vacuumed.
  • Improper use of chemical treatment products
