First off you should ensure that you never leave it out in the sun for prolonged periods of time. It is made up of a lot of plastic and can start to crack and perish after a period of only a few months.
Sometimes debris will also build up in the flapper which can restrict movement and cause a loss of performance. The flapper is a vital part of the Kreepy Krauly and must be able to move freely at all times.
To clean the flapper housing out it is as simple as turning the unit upside down and removing excess debris with your fingers or flushing it out with a high powered hose.
